Laura Orozco Garrett is the Community Education and Pre-Professional Program Manager at Keshet Dance & Center for the Arts. She oversees community classes and Keshet’s Pre-Professional Program (KP3). In both programs, she teaches classes in Jazz and Ballet.

Past Experiences
Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Santa Fe, NM
Laura Orozco Garrett teaches Jazz to students ages 11-15. She trains the students to become stronger, smarter, and more versatile dancers. She focuses on the following skills: syncopated rhythms, using and switching between a proper parallel position and turned out and in, dropping the pelvis, dancing with dynamics, and strength training.
Moving Arts Española, Española, NM
Laura Orozco Garrett served as the Artistic Director of Moving Arts Española, a non-profit organization that provides low-cost art education, free meals, and performance opportunities to students of the Española Valley. Within her first year as Artistic Director, she implemented a Student Handbook and a Staff Handbook which had not previously existed, created open office hours, surpassed enrollment goals, met and surpassed fundraising goals, created a teen council program, reinstated a children's performance troupe, and brought new collaborations to the company.
She taught all of the upper level ballet classes as well as a Stretch & Strength class for adults. She also taught a Dance Performance Class which is a group of advanced students who learn special choreography to perform at community events. She served as the facilitator for the Spaña Teen Art Collective (STAC) which is a group of teenagers who work to create workshops and events for teens by teens. Her philosophy for every classroom that she enters is to create a learning environment where students learn discipline and the joy of education.
En Pointe School of Dance, Los Alamos, NM
Laura Orozco Garrett taught Adult Ballet, Ballet 2, and a Pre-Pointe class. She created choreography for the students to perform at the end of each semester and trained the students to become stronger and smarter dancers. Her philosophy for teaching ballet is to use the technique and form to teach students self-confidence, self-expression, discipline, and working together.
Dulce Elementary Residency, Dulce, NM
During the spring of 2022, Laura Orozco Garrett was a guest artist at Dulce Elementary School. Over three days she taught several sections of Kindergarten through 6th grade. Her goal was to give students an exciting introduction to dance, and ignite a spark of interest in the art form. She did this through creating an exciting curriculum where students were able to learn about dance through games, activities, and sharing videos.
Santa Fe Preparatory School, Santa Fe, NM
In the spring of 2022, Laura Orozco Garrett co-taught and co-choreographed Shrek Jr. the Musical with her mother, Diana Orozco-Garrett. She felt it was exciting to work at her Alma Mater and to collaborate with her mother. The goal of this work was to help students discover a new love for theater and musicals.
